After initially coming to UT to study classical voice, Rachel missed academia and decided to return to classics, the joy of her middle school years. Upon visiting the Classics website, she saw a banner that said “Do you want to learn Greek?” to which she replied “yes”, and immediately registered for Summer Intensive Greek. The rest is ancient history. She now majors in Classical Languages (Greek) and Classical Studies (Archaeology) and intends to go to grad school for the latter. In addition to her involvement in Eta Sigma Phi, last year Rachel also enjoyed a (very last minute) leading role in UT Ancient Drama’s production of Aristophanes’ Peace. Outside of school, Rachel enjoys reading, cooking, and performing jazz with her fiancé.

Cassie is a Junior transfer student in the Department of Classics, double-majoring in both Classical Archaeology and Anthropology with a focus in archaeology. After coming to UT from two two years at ACC (where Classics isn’t A Thing), Cassie wanted a way to connect with other students in the department, and Eta Sigma Phi was the perfect opportunity. This Fall will be her third semester at UT, and her second semester as a member of Eta Sigma Phi. When she isn’t being emotionally destroyed by her classes, Cassie enjoys binge-watching TV shows (The Office, Game of Thrones, and Preacher, to name a few), taking longer naps than she should, and collecting classic Disney movies on VHS (her favorite is the Hunchback of Notre Dame).
